For those who have the psychic capability to see spirits, this guardian will appear as a kakapo (Strigops habroptilus), a most unusual flightless, nocturnal parrot from New Zealand.  This highly endangered, intelligent, curious bird is around 24 inches (60 cm) long, and weighing up to 9 pounds (4 kg).  Also called an owl parrot, it is not only the only flightless parrot, but also the only parrot that uses a lek breeding ritual, and the only parrot that is largely solitary most of the year.
